Packaged Part Electrical and Environmental Test

Table of component part testing
Test Description
Functional Electrical Testing Electrical testing of the packaged microcircuit to ensure it is fully compliant with the required specifications
Environmental & Qualification Testing Environmental and reliability testing of packaged microcircuits to the requirements MIL-PRF-38535 Class Q microcircuits using MIL-STD-883 Test Methods

FUNCTIONAL ELECTRICAL TESTING

  • After devices are assembled into packages, and each microcircuit is tested over the full Mil-Spec operating temperature range (-55 °C, +125 °C) and room (+25 °C), or in accordance with the customer’s microcircuit specification, to ensure the GEM part emulation is fully compliant with the required specifications of the original microcircuit

Operator using packaged-part electrical test equipment

  • Functional test programs are developed using Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
  • All the functions of the microcircuit are tested at the maximum, nominal, and minimum power supply voltages
  • Any additional functions (revealed during the reverse engineering process) are also tested under all required power supply and temperature ranges
  • Guard band values (based on the accuracy of the ATE tester) are added to the electrical test limits, guaranteeing that the microcircuit has been tested accurately for all electrical test requirements

ENVIRONMENTAL and QUALIFICATION TESTING

  • MEC performs environmental qualification, screening and qualification tests with DLA issued lab suitability in conformance to the requirements MIL-PRF-38535 Class Q microcircuits using MIL-STD-883 Test Methods
  • On-site mechanical, environmental, and package test screening equipment is utilized, following the test methods shown in the inset table
  • Tests ensure full conformance to the environmental requirements of the microcircuit
  • All devices are fully screened (including, but not limited to):
    • Visual inspection
    • Temperature cycling
    • Constant acceleration
    • Fine and gross leak
    • Pre and post burn-in electrical tests
  • Additional tests will be performed if required by the procurement specification
